A Road Not Taken: The Story of US President Jimmy Carter’s Solar Panels
Arguably what should be called The First Green Deal, US President Jimmy Carter put solar panels on The White House and pushed major efforts for clean energy. GOP Ronald Reagan removed the panels and shut down Carter’s visionary efforts. It’s time to reflect on the Carter Administration and what got lost these last forty years. This is a Swiss made film by Christina Heamauer and Roman Keller, nearly impossible to find in The United States. Admission is free. Marin Television, 819 A Street, San Rafael, CA
Join a zoom call to discuss the progress to erect a statue of US President Jimmy Carter in San Francisco. Given Carter was the last president of the 60s era and this initiative began the same day October 1, 2017 as the final day of the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love, it seems appropriate to commemorate a US President who stood for peace, conflict resolution, clean energy, democracy, fair housing, democracy, health, mental health and a lover of great music! In fact, let’s include Rosalynn as part of that statue, to honor great leadership that we value here in California! We have a sculptor and we are working on funding, logistics and details. Come join the fun in creating that which we respect and admire! Zoom link will be available on May 1, 2026. Email barbara.mcveigh.writer@gmail.com for more information.

World Forum For Democracy, Strasbourg, France
Out of nearly 500 submissions to the 2025 World Forum for Democracy, our California Carter Initiative was invited to be presented this year in Strasbourg, France. With full sponsorship by The Council of Europe, Founder Barbara McVeigh will travel to the Forum to present the California Carter grassroots initiative, as artists, musicians, teachers and journalists, to remember the legacy of US President Jimmy Carter and celebrate his approach to peace, diplomacy, housing, health, mental health and education, as well as his stand for the Palestinian people.
Earth Day Marin 2026
The California Carter Initiative will be tabling at the Earth Day Marin this year. Come visit us and see the educational work we are doing to remind private citizens of their power! As Carter said, “the private citizen has far more power than any president of the United States!” Carter energy director was the organizer of the first Earth Day in the early 1970s!
Earth Day Marin is a free community event for people of all ages, with informative booths, fun activities, EVs, art, music, games and talks in a beautiful outdoor setting. We expect it to be the largest Earth Day event in Marin!
